Hello all,
Sorry for not posting much lately. A month ago I headed to Tennessee to help my daughter move. If you’ve ever moved or helped someone move, you know it’s quite a process.
While still in Johnson City, we blew out a tire on my boyfriend’s pickup — the vehicle we needed to pull the trailer full of her stuff across seven states. Actually, he blew out the tire because he’s curious about new construction sites, so we entered one and got ourselves in a bit of a pickle which led to him running over a very sharp metal piece that instantly punctured the tire. Fun times were not had by all that night, but we did manage to get the spare on and a new tire in time to get the trailer loaded and be on our way.
We spent a few days at home in Nebraska before taking off for South Dakota to move her into her new place. As her mom, I didn’t want to leave my baby girl stranded alone in a new town until I felt sure she was well settled, so I opted to stay with her for two weeks — this was more for my own peace of mind, of course, but it was time well spent.
I’ve been back home now for not quite a week, and I’m finally getting back into my writing routine. I’ve just added another 1,400 words to my sixth novel, bringing the word count to 70,600 words so far. I think it will have around 85,000 words when it’s all complete.
This brings me to the favor part of the post title.
I’m looking for a few first readers to read the completed draft and give me some honest feedback before I tackle some rewrites. I sent out emails to some readers two days ago and have heard back from some of them, but I thought I’d ask those of you who read “Tomes and Topics” if you’d be interested, too.
My hope is to have it out to readers by the end of July (or thereabouts), and then I’d ask that you have your commentary to me in two weeks (or sooner) so that I can use the last part of August and most of September to work on some rewrites and edits. If at all possible, I would like to release the book before the end of the year, but I’m more interested in making the book as good as possible before I do that.
If you are at all inclined to help me do this, comment below or contact me via the contact page of my website at tammymarshallauthor.wordpress.com
I’m not looking for people to nitpick grammar; I’m looking for readers who will tell me what they liked and disliked about the story and anything that confused them.
To give you a little information about the novel, so you can decide if it’s even something you’d care to read, it’s a suspense/thriller involving danger and death as well as motorcycles and a hero ghost. There’s also some romance thrown in for good measure.
If that is something you might like to read, let me know. I will need an email to deliver a copy of it to you. The best way to give me the email is via the contact page on my website if you don’t want your email address visible to others on here.
Now that I’m getting back into my routine, I will do better about being more regular with my posts here, but for now, I have two hungry dogs demanding some attention, so I’ll see you next week.
Thanks for any and all support you give me as a writer.
Tammy Marshall
